CELEBRATE THE HOLIDAYS WITH EXCITING EVENTS AT ZOO MIAMI

Enjoy ten nights of Zoo Lights for $5/person, Dinner with Mrs. Claus, and watch our animals open their special holiday gifts

MIAMI, FL, November 7, 2012 - This holiday season Zoo Miami is hosting a myriad of exciting and fun activities for everyone.  Guests can enjoy thousands of beautiful animal-shaped lights and dazzling tree lights as they stroll the zoo during the ten nights of Zoo Lights; have Dinner with Mrs. Claus; and watch the animals open their specially-prepared gifts during Holiday Gifts for the Animals.

The zoo’s glorious grounds come to light for ten brilliant nights during Zoo Lights, December 14 – 23 from 7 – 10 p.m. (ticket booths close at 9:30 p.m.).  Guests can enjoy thousands of bright animal-shaped lights along our walkways, listen to wonderful holiday music, sip hot chocolate, munch on delicious cookies, enjoy karaoke caroling, take a ride on a camel, “ice skate,” their a carousel ride, enjoy the hippo slide (the world’s largest inflatable slide), and have your picture taken with Santa.  General admission is only $5 per person plus tax. Included with admission is a pair of 3D glasses, which will make the Zoo Lights experience even more engaging and amusing.  Food, beverages, camel rides, “ice skating,” photo with Santa, carousel, and hippo slide are all available at additional costs.

Dinner with Mrs. Claus will take place December 22, from 7:30 – 9:30 p.m.  Eat a delicious dinner with the family! Children receive a holiday plush gift and will make their holiday ornaments and decorate their holiday cookies! Don’t forget to bring your camera to take lots of pictures with Mrs. Claus.
 
Members: $36.95 per adult, $30.95 per child ages 3-12*, children age 2 and under are free
Non-members: $39.95 per adult, $33.95 per child ages 3-12*, children age 2 and under are free
 
*Every paying child will receive a holiday plush gift and can create a holiday ornament
 
Price includes:
• Free parking
• Admission to Zoo Lights with unlimited carousel rides (7 p.m. – 10 p.m.; ticket booth gates close at 9:30 p.m.)
• Classic holiday menu which includes butternut squash soup; fresh roasted turkey with homemade gravy; spiced brown sugar glazed ham; side sauces such as cranberry-apple chutney and mustard-orange marmalade; candied sweet potatoes with caramelized marshmallows; mac ‘n cheese; seasonal vegetable; dinner rolls with assorted butters; an assorted holiday cookies decoration station for dessert; additional items include beer or wine: $5.35 (available onsite); soda: $2.50 plus tax (available onsite); plush: $3.50 plus tax (pre-purchase required); arts and crafts: $3 plus tax (pre-purchase required)

Another fun family activity is Holiday Gifts for the Animals!  Every weekend in December, including December 24 and 25, but excluding December 29 and 30, watch the animals joyfully open holiday gifts specially prepared for them by zookeepers and volunteers.  The animals enjoy opening up their enriching gifts and you’ll be entertained watching them.  See schedule below.
