The Oustalet’s Chameleon has become established in natural areas and groves in a rural area of South Florida.  Zoo Miami staff is working with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, University of Florida and Miami-Dade County Natural Areas Management to begin to investigate the range, habits and environmental impacts that these lizards may have to the environment of South Florida.  Surveys and collection of specimens are being conducted to learn more about them before being placed in suitable captive environments.
