India and Nepal - Greater One-horned Rhinoceros

The endangered Greater One-horned Rhino has recovered in the last century from around 200 individuals to more than 2,800. But, most of these animals exist in a single protected habitat within their range. Zoo Miami supports the International Rhino Foundation (IRF) and their partners in a translocation program to spread the population to more protected national parks in their former range. These measures will hopefully allow further expansion of the species overall population and protect the species from a possible event that could endanger the main population.
