The Pride of Miami Metro Zoo
Volunteers are truly the pride of Miami Metrozoo as they provide valuable assistance in almost every area of the Zoo's operations. They are a dedicated and fun-loving group of people who find fulfillment in helping Miami Metrozoo achieve its missions of wildlife conservation and education. These committed individuals donate over 30,000 hours a year in a variety of capacities. That's the equivalent of more than 14 full time employees!
Who is the "typical" Metrozoo volunteer?
Well it's hard to come up with a prototype. They range from 14 years of age to 85. About half the volunteers are retired, and the other half of the pride includes police officers, teachers, nurses, attorneys, secretaries, students, doctors, computer programmers, homemakers and salespeople to name a few. What they do have in common is an appreciation of wildlife, a penchant for people, and a desire to make a difference.
